The FDA issued an early alert on Medline beds used at home and in long-term care. Electrical parts can overheat and cause smoke or fire, and accessories such as rails can trap patients. Medline is leaving the bed business. Owners can keep using the beds but should plug them in only to reposition someone, avoid extension cords, and call 1-800-950-0128 (option 7) for a repair, refund or replacement.
